As Executive Director of the Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation (WCEDC), Bill Mitchell facilitates growing the economic base of Waukesha County. WCEDC’s mission is to assist Waukesha County businesses and communities to compete in the global economy.
WCEDC provides innovation services and consultation to over 1,100 businesses each year that are expanding within or considering locating to Waukesha County and SE Wisconsin. Mr. Mitchell has over 20 years experience in business development, including as a consultant in employee retention and leadership.
Bill Mitchell, as the Chief Operating Officer of the Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation, manages the economic development expectations of WCEDC’s public and private sector stakeholders, Waukesha County, Waukesha County Technical College and business.
In this role he designs, implements and measures business development strategies that ensure Waukesha County businesses can remain globally competitive.
Background
- Twenty-Five years experience in human resources, organizational development, employee relations and branch management. Employers included Manpower, Overall Services and owner/operator of a private consulting practice in employee retention.
- Eleven years experience in county and regional economic development, including founding member of the Milwaukee7 regional initiative, the Regional Economic Partnership, and boards of directors in community housing and the financial services sectors.
- BBA, Business, University of Wisconsin – Madison
- Certification in Economic Development, UW-Milwaukee’s Department of Urban Planning – Regional Economic Partnership
- Continuing educational studies in organizational development, human resource management and economic development.
- Current service on the Boards of Wisconsin Business Development Finance Corp., Wisconsin Sustainability Council, Smart Business Forum, Lumen Christi Ministry and non-voting member of WCEDC Board of Directors
- Membership in Regional Economic Development Partnership (SE Wisconsin), Advisory Member – Milwaukee7 Economic Development Initiative
